Historical & Ecological Origin
The original Daugavpils Railway Station was constructed in 1861 as part of the St. Petersburg–Warsaw Railway line. It was designed by architect Heinrich Schtritman. The station's original purpose was to facilitate passenger and freight transport, connecting the Russian Empire with Western Europe. The current building is a reconstruction, largely completed after World War II, maintaining the historical architectural style.
